Welcome to Golden Eagle Custom Log Homes
Phil Hyatt is the force behind Golden Eagle Custom Log Homes. He has had a lifelong relationship with all things in nature – especially wood. It seems that he was born with an ability to know how to work with each and all species, their strengths and weakness and how each will react to the environment they are placed in.
Born in International Falls Minnesota and later moving to Western Oregon with his family he found his talent first in his wood shop class where he built several grandfather clocks and received awards. Having an entrepreneurial spirit, he was soon working in the woods – splitting cedar shakes for roofs, peeling and selling Chittim bark for medical purposes, picking and selling mushrooms, trapping and hunting, and then falling timber.
The latter took him to Alaska where he worked tirelessly falling trees and coordinating teams for the timber industry. The work ethic that was developed during these early years has guided him throughout his life. When a goal is set – it will be met. This is the way he functions.
On to Idaho and the development of Golden Eagle Cabinet Shop where a very productive high end cabinet shop was built and expanded. Phil was eventually building cabinets for homes all over the Treasure Valley. HIs cabinets were and are considered some of the best in the Parade of Homes.
After the downturn of 2008 – Phil and his wife Nicki sold their business and moved back to Alaska where work at Eagle Custom Woodworking was established as well as part ownership in a lumber mill. Using the abundant raw material, experience and knowledge of the area – log homes were soon being built.
Phil was then appointed to work on the Tongass Advisory Committee as the Timber Industry Representative under the authority of the Secretary of Agriculture – USDA.
So….. Back to the lower 48 and on to the Log Home business that brought you here!
